15 Sep, 2024 Name some special things about this school that makes it unique.: Be sure to ask about the school’s outdoor education program during your interview to ensure you are comfortable with the trip expectations and demands. Participation is mandatory for upper school teachers and involves an annual trip that many find challenging. The program involves one of two activities: hiking or kayaking, for 4-11 days, depending on the grade level you accompany. These hiking and kayaking sessions are prolonged and difficult for many participants. Some trips take place over national holidays, and trips for grades 11 and 12 do extend over weekends. The trip locations are remote, with limited access to amenities; you will likely need to wash in streams and find secluded areas for bathroom use.
You will also be required to provide details of any medical conditions that might affect your ability to participate, and you will almost certainly need to meet with the division principal to discuss these conditions. Some individuals might find this meeting uncomfortable and view it as a breach of privacy.
